Conchuding the Shouchong Festival, he ascended the hall. A monk asked: "When the Holy Mother of the East of the City, born together with the Buddha, did not wish to see the Buddha, how was it?" He said: "Red eyes bump into the end of a firewood brand." The monk said: "One day she saw the Buddha, covered her face with her hands, and in all ten fingers and palms she saw the Buddha—what about that?" The Master said: "Drink wine when meeting an intimate friend; chant poetry to someone who understands." The monk said: "As for the Empress Dowager being born together with the Buddha, tell me, what is the difference in superiority?" The Master said: "Light as the tip of a fine hair, heavy as a mountain." The monk bowed.
