師乃云：「上元新節，處處燒燈，都城巷陌，市廛邸店，觀者如堵。惟復燈來眼底？眼到燈邊？會得方是觀燈人；其或未然，多向暗地裏走。」

The master then said: "At the fresh festival of the Lantern Festival, everywhere lamps are lit; in the capital's lanes and alleys, in markets and inns, the onlookers stand like a wall. Is it only that the lamps come before the eyes? Or do the eyes reach the lamps? If you understand, only then are you a person viewing the lamps; if not yet so, you mostly walk in the dark."
