9.11

上堂：「君勿愛清涼，清涼如火如沸湯；君勿惡炎熱，炎熱如氷如積雪，勿愛亦勿惡，未是逍遙處。楊次公自見天衣懷和尚之後，縱其波辯，品藻諸方，咸謂法藏比丘後身。獨徑山殊未之信，畢竟此是何人？」卓主丈：「清朝楊依講，季世佛牙郎。」

He ascended the hall: "Do not love cool and refreshing; cool and refreshing is like fire, like boiling water. Do not hate blazing heat; blazing heat is like ice, like accumulated snow. Neither loving nor hating is not yet the place of untrammeled ease. Ever since Yang Cigong met Venerable Tianyi Huai, he gave free rein to his surging eloquence, evaluating [the masters of] all quarters, and all proclaimed him a later rebirth of the bhikṣu Dharmākara. Jingshan alone has never believed this. In the final analysis, what kind of person is this?" Striking the staff, [he said]: "In a pure dynasty, Yang relies on lecturing; in a degenerate age, the Buddha's Tooth Boy."
