9.133

中秋無月上堂，僧問：「長沙與仰山翫月次，仰山云：『人人盡有者箇，為甚用不得。』此意如何？」師云：「輪機是算人之本。」僧云：「長沙云：『恰是債，爾用看。』又作麼生？」師云：「無文印子胡亂搭。」僧云：「仰山云：『爾作麼生用？』被長沙一脚蹈倒起來云：『師叔直下似箇大蟲。』還端的也無？」師云：「未是性燥漢。」僧禮拜，師云：「短處求長。」

Ascending the hall when there was no moon at Mid-Autumn, a monk asked: "When Changsha and Yangshan were admiring the moon, Yangshan said: 'Everyone has this, so why can they not use it?' What is the meaning of this?" The Master said: "The counting device is the basis for calculating people." The monk said: "Changsha said: 'Just as it is a debt, you try using it.' What about this?" The Master said: "An uncarved seal stamped wildly about." The monk said: "Yangshan said: 'How do you use it?' Then he was kicked over by Changsha, got up, and said: 'Uncle, you are just like a tiger.' Was it authentic or not?" The Master said: "He was not yet a quick-tempered fellow." The monk bowed, and the Master said: "Seeking length in short points."
