開爐上堂：「徑山年老心孤，要說火爐頭活，終不道東家杓柄長，西家杓柄短，只要每日鉢盂兩度濕。忽然坐到更深，毛頭星現，各自救取眉毛。」

Ascending the hall for opening the hearth: "Jingshan is old in years and solitary at heart. If I am to speak of hearthside life, I will never say the eastern family's ladle handle is long and the western family's ladle handle is short; I only want the alms-bowl to be wetted twice a day. If you suddenly sit until deep in the night and the comet appears, each of you save your own eyebrows!"
