9.27

復舉：「洛浦和尚因龐居士來參，禮拜起云：『孟夏漸熱，仲冬薄寒。』浦云：『莫錯。』士云：『龐公年老。』浦云：『何不寒便道寒，熱便道熱？』士云：『患聾作麼？』浦云：『放爾三十棒。』士云：『啞却我口，塞却汝耳。』」師拈云：「洛浦貪程太速，下知蹉過鳳樓；老龐密用金針，不覺鋒頭已露，檢點將來，二俱不了。且道，那裏是他不了底？來夜請首座為眾點破。」

He also cited: "Because Layman Pang came to visit, Venerable Luopu, as Pang arose from bowing, said, 'Early summer is getting warm; mid-winter is slightly cold.' Luopu said, 'Do not make a mistake.' The layman said, 'Old Pang is advanced in years.' Luopu said, 'Why don't you just say it is cold when it is cold, and say it is warm when it is warm?' The layman said, 'Why do you suffer from deafness?' Luopu said, 'I release you from thirty blows.' The layman said, 'Muting my mouth plugs up your ears.'" The master brought it up and said: "Luopu was too eager to complete the journey and did not realize he had passed by the phoenix tower; Old Pang secretly employed the gold needle and did not notice the point was already exposed. If scrutinized, neither of the two finished it. Tell me, where is it that they did not finish it? Tomorrow night, let the head monk point it out for the assembly."
