次日上堂，舉：「一明三目機銖兩，為什麼終身不得？放浪雲山，無適無莫，為什麼經年泰定？且如來制中，合取那一等上科，為後人法式？」

The next day, ascending the hall, he cited: "'One clarity, three eyes, the dynamic function of a few ounces—why could he not attain it to the end of his life? Roaming freely among cloudy mountains, without bias or preference—why was he tranquil and settled year after year?' Furthermore, in the regulations of the Tathāgata, which class of standard should be adopted as the model for later generations?"
