上堂：「炎威三伏不為苦，涼風四來不為樂，樂中有苦人不知，苦中有樂人不會，摶虛空、揮象外，擔板一生，死而無悔。」

Ascending the hall: "The blazing heat of the midsummer dog days is not suffering; the cool breezes blowing from all four directions are not joy. In joy there is suffering that people do not know; in suffering there is joy that people do not understand. Knead empty space and brandish what is beyond forms; carry the board all one's life, dying without regret."
