9.84

師廼云：「玉宇澄肅，眾星掩耀，尋常多是論三五，惟有今宵分外明，引得馬簸箕呼兒喚子；縱而翫之，直饒各逞危機，畢竟出他影子不得。莫有出他影子底麼？出來下一轉語，供養大眾；不然，山僧自道去也。」

The Master then said: "The jade heavens are clear and solemn, the host of stars conceals its brightness. Usually people mostly talk of the fifteenth day, but only tonight is it extraordinarily bright, enticing Mazu to call his sons and summon his children, indulging them to enjoy it. Even if each displays dynamic potential, in the end they cannot escape his shadow. Is there anyone who escapes his shadow? Come forth and deliver a turning word as an offering to the great assembly; otherwise, this mountain monk will speak for himself."
