Ascending the hall on the memorial day of the temple founder: "Who knows how many years the True Dharma and Semblance Dharma have lasted; one has not yet managed to present it, so how can one bear not being able to restrain oneself, coming forth to butt into the ranks and seize the market? Having not yet attained a successive station, he nevertheless passed away like that. Did he depart, or did he not depart?" Striking his staff, he said, "Revealed."
