Ascending the hall on the Lantern Festival: "With the court's New Year suburban sacrifice, heaven and earth open in peace. Beneath the imperial carriages, blue, red, azure, and green—the streets and lanes are like broad daylight. Within the Chan gate there are also five lamps: the Transmission of the Lamp, the Extensive Lamp, the Universal Lamp, the Continued Lamp, and the Linked Lamp. Lamp after lamp succeeds one another, cycling endlessly. Tell me, what lamp is Jingshan?" Striking the staff, he said: "The walls have ears."
