上堂云。聲色見聞鬧浩浩。恰似兒時鬪百草。兩家拈出一般般。相對無言點頭笑。好笑好笑。人人盡道。香嚴擊竹響而明心。靈雲見桃花而悟道。還端的也無。當時到即不點。而今點即不到。

Ascending the hall, he said: "Sounds, sights, seeing, and hearing are tumultuous and noisy, just like children playing the game of hundred herbs. Both sides bring out the very same thing; facing each other without words, they nod and smile. Laughable, laughable! Everyone says: Xiangyan struck the bamboo and upon the sound understood his mind; Lingyun saw peach blossoms and awakened to the Way. But is it authentic or not? At that time, to arrive was not to point; now, to point is not to arrive."
