上堂僧問記得。僧問巴陵。如何是提婆宗。陵云。銀椀裡盛雪。未審。此意如何。師云。猶墮一色在。進云。恁麼則滿舡空載月。漁父宿蘆花。師云。轉却後作麼生。進云。龍得水時添意氣。虎逢山處長威獰。師云。且喜勿交涉。進云。却請和尚道。師云。欲識誕生王子父。鶴騰霄漢出銀籠。師乃云。活計如今付舊人。版頭疎久又還親。星河月與長江混。渺渺清光一色勻。底時節落功勳。臥穩須知却轉身。轉得了來相識麼。寒窮面嘴黑皴皴。

Ascending the hall, a monk asked: "I recall a monk asked Baling, 'What is the school of Deva?' Baling said, 'A silver bowl heaped with snow.' I wonder, what is the meaning of this?" The Master said: "It still falls into a single color." [The monk] proceeded: "If so, then 'The full boat empty, carrying the moon; / The fisherman sleeps among reed flowers.'" The Master said: "After turning around, what is it like?" [The monk] said: "When the dragon finds water, its spirit increases; where the tiger encounters mountains, its ferocity grows." The Master said: "Fortunately, there is no connection." [The monk] said: "Then I request the Venerable to speak." The Master said: "If you wish to know the father of the born prince: / A crane soars into the firmament, leaving the silver cage." The Master then said: "The livelihood is now entrusted to the former person; / Long estranged at the head of the bench, he is once again close. / The River of Stars and the moon blend with the Yangtze River; / Vast and hazy, the pure light is evenly balanced in one color. / At what moment do meritorious achievements fall away? / Sleeping soundly, one must know to turn the body around. / Having turned around, do you recognize each other? / Shivering and impoverished, the face and mouth are blackened and cracked."
