上堂云。一二三四五。禾山打鼓金牛舞。劈面來時著眼看。全身放下休回互。諸禪德。祇如不回互時作麼生。良久云。千鈞纔一挽。自有發機人。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "One, two, three, four, five: Heshan beats the drum, Jinniu dances. When it comes right in your face, open your eyes and look; let go of your whole body, cease mutual ambiguity. Venerable Chan monks! Just what is it like when there is no mutual ambiguity?" After a long pause, he said: "A weight of thirty thousand catties is pulled by only one; naturally, there is someone who triggers the mechanism."
