結夏上堂云。一塵具無量剎土。一念超無量劫數。一身現無量眾生。一體合無量諸佛。所以道。以大圓覺為我伽藍。身心安居平等性智。恁麼則不可以方所為限。不可以時分為拘。自他和合。則水乳相同。主伴交參。則鏡像相照。祇如禁足護生。又且如何話會。良久云。心心無異念。步步不迷方。

Ascending the hall at the commencement of the summer retreat, [the Master] said: "A single dust mote contains immeasurable lands; a single thought transcends immeasurable kalpas. A single body manifests immeasurable sentient beings; a single substance unites immeasurable Buddhas. Therefore it is said: 'Taking the great, perfect awakening as our saṅghārāma, body and mind reside peacefully in the wisdom of equality.' Being so, then it cannot be limited by direction or location, nor can it be bound by periods of time. Self and other harmonizing, they are like milk and water blending together; host and guest interpenetrating, they are like mirror and reflection mutually illuminating. But tell me, how do you discuss and comprehend confining one's feet and protecting living beings?" After a long pause, he said: "Mind to mind without different thoughts; step by step, not lost in direction."
