上堂舉舡子囑夾山云。直須藏身處沒蹤跡。沒蹤跡處莫藏身。吾三十年在藥山。祇明此事。師云。好諸禪德。寒巖異草。坐著成功。明月白雲。步時分影。正當恁麼時。如何行履。良久云。幽洞不拘關鎖意。縱橫那涉兩頭人。

Ascending the hall, he cited: The Boatman enjoined Jiashan, saying, "You must leave no trace where you hide your body; and do not hide your body where there is no trace. For thirty years at Yaoshan, I understood only this matter." / The master said, "Good Chan worthies! Unusual grass on a cold cliff—sitting down, one accomplishes merit; bright moon and white clouds—when walking, shadows are cast. Right at such a time, how do you walk?" / After a long pause, he said, "The secluded cave is not constrained by the idea of locks and bars; / Freely criss-crossing, how could it involve someone caught in the two extremes?"
