上堂云。好諸禪德。雲無心而自閑。天無際而能寬。道無像而普應。神無慮而常安。隨之也不見去跡。迎之也不見來端。一藏教祇成讚歎。三世佛止可傍觀。燭曉堂虛。織婦轉機梭路細。水明夜靜。漁老擁蓑舡月寒。諸禪德。還曾到箇田地箇時節麼。其或未然。不要亂舉。

Ascending the hall, he said: "Good Chan worthies! The cloud is mindless and naturally at ease; the sky is boundless and can be vast. The Way has no form and universally responds; the spirit has no anxiety and is constantly at peace. Follow it, and you see no trace of its going; meet it, and you see no point of its coming. The entire canon of teachings merely amounts to praise; the Buddhas of the three periods can only look on from the side. Candlelight at dawn, the hall is empty: the weaver woman shifts the loom, the track of the shuttle fine. The water is clear, the night quiet: the old fisherman wraps himself in a straw cape, the boat's moon cold. Chan worthies, have you ever arrived at such a realm, such a season? If not yet so, do not cite it at random."
