上堂云。心不能緣。口不能議。直須退步荷擔。切忌。當頭觸諱。風月寒清古渡頭。夜舡撥轉琉璃地參。

Ascending the hall, he said: "The mind cannot condition it; the mouth cannot deliberate it. You must take a step backward and shoulder the load; never directly violate the taboo. Wind and moon are chill and pure at the ancient ferry; the night boat is steered around across the ground of lapis lazuli. Participate!"
