1.43

上堂云。水中鹽味。色裏膠青。體之有據。取之無形。用時密密。寂處惺惺。是諸佛之本覺。乃眾生之妙靈。廓大千而為量。破微塵而出經。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] said, "The taste of salt in water, the glue's blue in color: its substance has evidence, but grasping it has no form. When in use it is intimate; where silent it is awake. It is the fundamental enlightenment of all buddhas, the wondrous numen of sentient beings. Vast as the great thousand [worlds] to serve as its measure, breaking open a minute dust mote to bring forth a sūtra."
