1.82

上堂云。掣鼓奪旗。往往光影裡走作。停機息杼。往往死水裡浸却。衲僧家穩下脚。沒窠臼莫棲泊。月樹不啼猿。雲巢無宿鶴。玄微及盡類難齊。千手大悲難摸索。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] said, "Seizing the drums and snatching the banners: one often runs about in light and shadow. Stopping the loom and resting the shuttle: one is often steeped in dead water. A patch-robed monk takes a steady step; having no nest, do not lodge anywhere. On the moonlit tree no ape cries; in the cloudy nest no crane roosts. When the profound subtlety is exhausted, the kinds are difficult to equate; the Great Compassionate One of a thousand hands finds it hard to grope around."
