3.33

舉僧問石霜。真身還出世也無。霜云。不出世。僧云。爭柰真身何。霜云。琉璃缾子口。師云。通身及盡。徹底無功。攃手興來。隨處得用。還識石霜老漢麼。當堂無影迹。遍界不曾藏。

[The Master] cited: A monk asked Shishuang: “Does the true body still appear in the world or not?” Shishuang said: “It does not appear in the world.” The monk said: “What can be done about the true body then?” Shishuang said: “The mouth of a lapis lazuli vase.”
The Master said: “The entire body fully reached, thoroughly without merit; throwing open hands as inspiration arises, it finds its function everywhere. Do you still recognise the old fellow Shishuang? In the middle of the hall there are no traces or shadows; throughout the entire realm it has never been concealed.”
