3.73

舉壽聖云。月半前用釣。月半後用錐。僧便問。正當月半時如何。聖云。泥牛踏破澄潭月。師云。兩頭得用。壽聖作家。直下忘功。是誰體得。放行也互換尊賓。把住也不留朕跡。還有體得底麼。玉女夜拋梭。織錦於西舍。

[Hongzhi] cited: Shousheng said, "Before the middle of the month I use a hook; after the middle of the month I use an awl." A monk then asked, "What about right in the middle of the month?" Shousheng said, "The mud ox tramples and shatters the moon in the clear pool." The Master [Hongzhi] said, "Mastering function at both ends, Shousheng is an adept. Directly forgetting function—who has embodied this? Letting go, guest and host interchange; holding fast, no trace or sign remains. Is there anyone who embodies it? The jade maiden throws her shuttle at night, / Weaving brocade in the western dwelling."
