上堂天童一夏與兄弟共住。諸人鼻孔。出得氣快也未。若也出得氣快。三世諸佛。與爾把手共行。歷代祖師。與爾同門出入。其或未然。非唯帶累先宗。亦乃埋沒自己。敢問諸人。只如鼻孔子。且作麼生出氣。還相委悉麼。青山轉處水流月。寒葉落時風帶秋。

Ascending the hall: "Tiantong has lived together with you brothers for an entire summer. Are your nostrils breathing freely yet? If they are breathing freely, the buddhas of the three periods walk hand in hand with you, and the ancestral masters of past generations go out and enter through the same gate with you. If not yet so, not only do you implicate the ancestral lineage, but you also bury yourself. I dare to ask everyone: just regarding the nostrils, how do they breathe? Do you understand? Where the green mountain turns, water flows with the moon; when cold leaves fall, the wind carries autumn."
