天寧節上堂。一人之父。百王之師。道機有餘兮動若四時。壽域無疆兮量同二儀。大功不宰。至化無為。妙兮雖喻。智也不知。箇是誕生王父。真實穩密處。諸人還體悉得麼。權挂垢衣云是佛。却裝珍御復名誰。

Ascending the hall on the Tianning Festival: Father of the one man, teacher to the hundred kings. The workings of his Way are inexhaustible, moving like the four seasons; his realm of longevity is boundless, measured with heaven and earth. His great merit does not dominate; his supreme transformation is effortless action (wuwei). Marvellous, though it may be analogised; even wisdom cannot know it. This is the birthplace of the royal father, the realm of true stability and secrecy. Can you all comprehend it? Provisionally putting on dirty garments, he is called a Buddha; yet when dressed in precious royal robes, by what name is he called again?
