Ascending the hall, [the Master] brought up: While Baofu and Changqing were touring the mountain, Baofu pointed to the ground before them with his finger and said: "Right here is the solitary peak of the Wondrous Peak." Changqing said: "So it is, so it is, but what a pity!" Later it was recounted to Jingqing. Jingqing said: "Had it not been for Lord Sun, skulls would cover the fields."
The Master said: "The skill of a living person, the effort of roaming the Way—one must reach such a season, such a field, before one can do it. Baofu did not take a single wrong step; Changqing did not speak a single reckless word. At that time, had it not been for Lord Sun, skulls would cover the fields—how could they be counted? Old Jingqing, Old Jingqing! In the governing signs of great peace, there is no disturbance at all. When hair does not sprout, rest in steady peace; just this suchness was originally the Way."
