4.22

上堂云。裏許含明。半夜月通犀角。其間轉動。忽地雷華象牙。妙在傍參。莫觸尊貴。少林九年面壁。家醜不欲外揚。二祖三拜立時。口訥誰知內敏。天童今日也大無端。

Ascending the hall, the Master said: "Within it contains brightness: the midnight moon pierces the rhinoceros horn. Therein lies movement: suddenly thunder blossoms on the elephant's tusk. The wonder lies in lateral inquiry; do not violate the honored and noble. Nine years facing the wall at Shaolin: family ugliness is not to be aired outside. When the Second Ancestor stood after three prostrations, his mouth was clumsy, but who knew the agility within? Tiantong today is also exceedingly outrageous."
