開爐上堂。木有火傷身。人有火傷神。木無火不生。人無火不成。地火風大。亦復如是。四大普周同法界。各各普周無障礙。只者普周無礙時。自然無壞無不壞。作麼生行履。得到箇時節。還會麼。一粒在荒田。不耘苗自秀。

Ascending the hall at the lighting of the hearth: "Wood has fire, which harms the body; humans have fire, which harms the spirit. Wood without fire does not grow; humans without fire do not mature. The great elements of earth, fire, and wind are also like this. The four great elements universally pervade, identical to the dharmadhātu; each and every one universally pervades without obstruction. Just at the time of this unobstructed universal pervasion, naturally there is nothing destroyed and nothing not destroyed. How do you conduct yourselves so as to reach this juncture? Do you understand? A single seed in a barren field; without weeding, the sprout flourishes of itself."
