示眾舉永嘉道。取不得捨不得。不可得中只麼得。師云。若於一切法上通身去。亦是有所得。若於一切用處豁落去。亦是有所得。且道。歸根到底不可得中。作麼生得。轉色轉功家法子。蘆華明月後相逢。

Instructing the assembly, [the Master] brought up: "Yongjia said: 'You cannot grasp it, you cannot discard it; within what cannot be attained, it is attained just so.'" The Master said: "If with your whole body you penetrate through all dharmas, there is still something attained. If in all functioning you open up and slough off, there is also something attained. Tell me, returning to the root and reaching the bottom, in what cannot be attained, how is it attained? The family heir who shifts forms and shifts functions meets [him] behind the reed blossoms in the bright moonlight."
