4.44

上堂云。劫火炎炎是事灰。劫空空處有靈臺。更無妍醜成痕垢。妍醜俱從箇裏來。

Ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "The kalpa fires blaze, reducing all affairs to ash; / In the very emptiness of the kalpa, there is a numinous terrace. / There are no longer beauty and ugliness to form traces and defilements; / Yet beauty and ugliness both come from within this very place."
