冬至上堂兆前契本。絕後歸宗。籥中之律氣潛通。樞內之機輪暗動。妙發九淵之底。恩流萬化之端。家信出門。將見長天回雁字。洞雲成雨也。知枯木起龍吟。任它光景推移。不礙道人活計。諸禪德。還相委悉麼。一氣不言含有像。萬靈何處謝無私。

Ascending the hall at the winter solstice: In accord with the source before signs; returning to the lineage after extinction. The pitch-pipe's resonant qi secretly circulates; the mechanism within the pivot silently turns. The subtle stirs at the depths of the nine abysses; grace flows to the start of the myriad transformations. Family letters leave the gate—one will see geese forming letters across the vast sky, and cave clouds bringing rain. One knows that from the dry tree a dragon's chant arises. Let appearances push forward and shift; they do not hinder the wayfarer's livelihood. Worthies of Chan, do you understand? The single breath, unspoken, encompasses forms; where do the myriad spirits offer thanks for its impartiality?
