寒竹癯長。蒼松老剛。身心鐵石。肝膽氷霜。秋天湛湛遠連水。
賓雁冥冥初沒行。却來借伴。
隨事成章。

Cold bamboo, slender and tall;
Verdant pine, aged and firm.
Body and mind like iron and stone;
Liver and gall like ice and frost.
The autumn sky is vast and clear, far connecting with the waters;
The visiting wild geese are dim and dark, their line first disappearing.
Yet coming to keep company,
Accord with affairs to compose verse.
