Ascending the hall, [the Master] said, "A single point in the centre of the circle illuminates the infinitesimal; where wisdom has no achievement, awareness is yet preserved. When thoughts conditioned by objects are completely purified, no other matter remains; at midnight the stellar river flows, the Dipper's handle hangs down. If you can set your eye here, you will illuminate and shatter birth and death. Therefore the ancients said: 'When delusions cease, stillness naturally arises; when stillness arises, awareness naturally appears. When awareness arises, stillness naturally perishes; distinctly clear, there is only true seeing.' And tell me, what does one see? Like a jewel giving off light, the light in turn illuminates itself."
