3.46

[The Master] cited: A monk asked Yunmen: “What is the pure Dharmakāya?” Yunmen said: “The flowering medicinal herb fence.” The monk said: “How is it when one goes along just like this?” Yunmen said: “A golden-haired lion.” Xuedou added a comment, saying: “Greatly uncalled for!”
The Master said: “When a thief comes, one must strike; when a guest comes, one must entertain. Yunmen and Xuedou—both were adepts. Is there anyone here who goes along just like this? Take care not to bump heads and knock foreheads!”
