[Hongzhi] ascended the hall: "Towering and majestic, revealed alone amidst the myriad phenomena; brightly and distinctly, met atop the tips of the hundred grasses. I do not see an external other; the other does not see an external me. When the other does not make me external, the dust of sound and form dissolves; when I do not make the other external, the sentiments of seeing and hearing are shed. Therefore it is said: The world is thus, sentient beings are thus, every dust mote is thus, every thought is thus. Tell me: how do you conduct yourselves so as to attain such correspondence? Do you understand? A single mechanism secretly turns, the pivot of the Way is silent; the reflections of the myriad phenomena flow, the mind-mirror is empty."
