Ascending the hall for the summer retreat: "Ordinary and sacred are unified, sharing one family; observe one's livelihood in the field of silent illumination. Now, when selecting buddhas and emptying the mind, naturally in one's own garden the flowers of awakening bloom. Confining the feet for ninety days, see the place before taking a step; protecting life for three months, realize the body and mind that do not touch things. Multiple bodies abide in one body; one body discerns the Way among multiple bodies. Therefore it is said: 'The Dharma-body of all buddhas enters my nature; my nature unites together with the Tathāgata.' It is also said: 'Taking the great perfect awakening as my saṅghārāma.' If you can proceed like this, what further affair is there? But how do you experience and understand it so as to unite with the Tathāgata? Do you understand? Do not manifest physical forms in the three realms; sit and cut off the ten directions, illuminating the emptiness of nature."
