When the ground is steady and secluded, and the livelihood is cold and desolate, you then see the kalpa of emptiness: not the slightest hair creates conditioned entanglements, not a speck of grit creates an obstruction. Empty to the utmost, it shines; pure and round, it gleams. Distinctly there is this one affair that has never been dimmed throughout ten thousand kalpas. If you nod in recognition of its existence, not following arising and ceasing, not abiding in annihilation or permanence—when wanting to transform and respond, one shares transformations with the forest of myriad phenomena; when wanting to quietly abide, one shares the Way with the cover and support of the two primal forces. Emerging and submerging, rolling up and unfurling, all rests with me. A genuine fellow must gather and release like this before he has it.
