十月旦上堂。開寒氷地獄。口是禍門。發猛火鐵床。身為苦具。淨慈以此。應箇時節。莫有冷灰豆爆。煖氣相接底麼。其或未然。齋時三枚乳餅。七枚菜餅。

Ascending the hall on the first of the tenth month, [the Master said]: "Opening the cold ice hell—the mouth is the gate of misfortune; / Igniting the fierce fire of the iron bed—the body is an instrument of suffering. / Jingci uses this to respond to this season. / Is there anyone whose beans pop in cold ashes, whose warm breath connects? / If not yet so: at mealtime, three milk cakes and seven vegetable cakes."
