謝進退兩班上堂。舉拂子云。者箇是百尺竿頭。進一步則有象。退一步則無蹤。進退全機變。從衡振祖風。復舉拂子云。且道。如何都在南山掌握中。

Ascending the hall to thank the outgoing and incoming monastic officers of the two ranks. Raising his whisk, he said, "This is atop a hundred-foot pole: advancing one step, there are forms; retreating one step, there are no traces. Advancing and retreating with full dynamism, freely in all directions shaking the ancestral style." Raising his whisk again, he said, "And tell me, how is it? All is held within the palm of South Mountain."
