上堂。惆悵杜鵑鳥。哀哀晝夜啼。落花飛絮怨流水。芳草懊恨迷東西。嗚呼春光浩蕩。可吊而不可送。醉倒愁人爛似泥。且道。是何人境界。若匪丹山鳳。徒勞語楚雞。

Ascending the hall: / "Melancholy cuckoo bird, / Mournfully crying day and night. / Falling flowers and drifting catkins resent the flowing water; / Fragrant grass grieves in confusion over east and west. / Alas! Spring light is vast and boundless— / It may be mourned, but cannot be sent away. / Drunk and collapsed, the sorrowful person is limp as mud. / But tell me, whose realm is this? / If not a phoenix of the Cinnabar Mountain, / In vain do you speak to a fowl of Chu."
