退淨慈赴天童上堂。拈拄杖云。衲僧拄杖子漫漫。黑似烟。西湖九箇月。可惡亦堪憐。卓拄杖云。忽然飛過鄞江去。攪動滄溟浪拍天。

Ascending the hall upon retiring from Jingci to go to Tiantong. Holding up his staff, he said: / "A patch-robed monk's staff is boundless, / Black as smoke. / Nine months at West Lake: / Detestable, yet also pitiable! / Striking the staff, he said: / "Suddenly it flies across the Yin River, / Churning the vast sea so waves beat against the heavens!"
