陳宣義生日陞堂。春風輕春日晴。柳眼青黃鶯鳴。欝欝葱葱生瑞氣。世上老人天上星。恁麼見得。釋迦讚歎。彌勒證明。蟠桃仙果笑中呈。雖然且道。林下衲僧將何酬獻。手中千古一枝藤。

Ascending the hall on the birthday of Xuan-yi Chen: / Spring breeze is gentle, spring sun is clear; / Willow eyes are green, yellow orioles sing. / Dense and luxuriant, auspicious vapors arise; / The old man in the world is a star in the heavens. / If seen like this: / Śākya praises it, / Maitreya verifies it; / In a smile, the fairy flat-peaches are presented. / Even so, tell me, what does the patch-robed monk under the trees offer in return? / A single vine staff held in hand from ages past.
