退院上堂。進院得住便住。退院要行便行。還相委悉麼。箇條烏拄杖。莫怪太生獰。擲拄杖下座。

Retiring from the monastery, he ascended the hall:
"Entering the monastery, when able to stay, just stay;
retiring from the monastery, when wishing to go, just go.
Do you still thoroughly comprehend?
This single black staff—
do not blame it for being too fierce and untamed!"
He threw down his staff and stepped down from his seat.
