2.35

佛成道上堂。瞿曇臘月八。夜半走出山賊。路羊腸曲。偷心虎背斑。鈍置人天者一番。天童恁麼撿舉。且道。該當也無。落賺兒孫頭盡禿。葫蘆藤種纏葫蘆。

On the Buddha's attainment of the Way, he ascended the hall:
"On the eighth day of the twelfth month, Gautama
slipped out of the mountains in the middle of the night—a bandit!
The path is winding like sheep's intestines;
the thieving mind is dappled like a tiger's back.
He blunted and baffled humans and gods, this one time.
Tiantong points it out like this;
tell me, is it fitting or not?
Misleading his sons and grandsons until their heads are completely bald,
seeds of calabash vines entangle calabashes."
