The pointer says:
If you understand, then there is application along the way: like a dragon reaching water, like a tiger leaning against a mountain. If you do not understand, then worldly conventions circulate: a ram butting a fence, waiting by a tree stump for a hare. At times a single phrase is like a crouching lion; at times a single phrase is like the Diamond King's treasured sword; at times a single phrase sits and cuts off the tongues of everyone under heaven; at times a single phrase follows the waves and pursues the billows. If there is application along the way, when meeting one who knows the tune, distinguish the dynamic and the opportune, recognise good and ill fortune, and mutually bear witness. If worldly conventions circulate, possess a single eye: you can sit and cut off the ten directions, standing like a wall a thousand fathoms high. Therefore it is said: When great function appears before you, it maintains no rules. At times one takes a single blade of grass and uses it as the sixteen-foot golden body; at times one takes the sixteen-foot golden body and uses it as a single blade of grass. But tell me: relying on what principle is this? Do you fully understand yet? Try to cite it to see.
