10.67

右伏以。十七歲便悟雲門睦州。可道是口頭三昧。二百年不見碧巖雪竇。忽遭渠手下一交。怎忘得弓冶裘箕。莫斷却兒孫種草。隨人去脚跟後轉。誰下得釣龍鉤。有箇具眼目底來。不看作繫驢橛。此事當如筏喻。他時自會筌忘。家家門戶透長安。前者呼後者應。種種因緣歸大數。昔之廢今之興。莫怪山僧口多。終是老婆心切。不讀東土書。安知西來意。重興一代宗風。雖無南去雁。看取北來魚。便有十分消息。持同文印。讀無盡燈。謹疏。

I respectfully state: At seventeen years of age he was enlightened to Yunmen and Muzhou; can this be called lip-service samādhi? For two hundred years the Biyan lu of Xuedou was not seen, yet suddenly beneath his hands one fell into it. How could one forget the bow-making, iron-smelting, fur-sewing, and basket-weaving? Do not cut off the seed-sprouts of descendants! Following after others and turning behind their heels, who can cast the dragon-hook? If someone with eyes comes along, do not look upon it as a stake for tethering donkeys. This matter should be like the raft parable; in due time, one naturally understands forgetting the fish-trap. Every family's door opens all the way to Chang'an; the one before calls, the one behind responds. The myriad causes and conditions return to the great destiny: former abandonment, present revival. Do not blame this mountain monk for speaking too much; after all, it is out of a grandmotherly heart. If you do not read the books of the Eastern Land, how can you know the intent of coming from the West? Reviving the lineage style of a whole generation: though there are no wild geese flying south, look at the fish coming from the north—there will then be full news. Upholding the seal of identical text, reading the inexhaustible lamp. Respectfully written.
