劫火光中立問端（道什麼。已是錯了也）衲僧猶滯兩重關（坐斷此人。如何救得。百匝千重。也有脚頭脚底）
可憐一句隨他語（天下衲僧作這般計較。千句萬句也不消得。有什麼難截斷他脚跟處）
萬里區區獨往還（業識茫茫蹉過也不知。自是他踏破草鞋）

"In the light of the kalpa-fire he sets up the question's premise; (What is he saying? Already mistaken.) / Patch-robed monks are still obstructed by the double barrier. (Sit this man down and cut him off; how can he be rescued? A hundred turns, a thousand layers; yet it has a head and a base.)
Pitiable is the single phrase, 'It goes along with it'— (Patch-robed monks under heaven make this kind of calculation. A thousand phrases, ten thousand phrases are not needed. What difficulty is there in cutting off his heels?) / In vain across ten thousand leagues he journeys back and forth alone." (Karmic consciousness vast and hazy; he passes it by without even knowing. Naturally, he has worn out his straw sandals.)
