雪竇當機頌出。句裏有出身處。劫火光中立問端。衲僧猶滯兩重關。這僧問處。先懷壞與不壞。是兩重關。若是得底人。道壞也有出身處。道不壞也有出身處。可憐一句隨他語。萬里區區獨往還。頌這僧持此問投子。又復回大隋。可謂萬里區區也。

Xuedou brought forth his eulogy responding to the dynamic: within the lines there is a way of escape. "In the light of the kalpa-fire he sets up the question's premise; / Patch-robed monks are still obstructed by the double barrier." Where this monk asked, he harbored "destroyed" and "not destroyed" in advance—this is the double barrier. If one is an attained person, saying "destroyed" also has an escape; saying "not destroyed" also has an escape. "Pitiable is the single phrase, 'It goes along with it'— / In vain across ten thousand leagues he journeys back and forth alone." This eulogises this monk taking this question to Touzi, and then returning to Dasui: it can indeed be called "in vain across ten thousand leagues."
