【四三】舉。僧問洞山。寒暑到來如何迴避（不是這箇時節。劈頭劈面在什麼處）山云。何不向無寒暑處去（天下人尋不得。藏身露影。蕭何賣却假銀城）僧云。如何是無寒暑處（賺殺一船人。隨他轉。也一釣便上）山云。寒時寒殺闍黎。熱時熱殺闍黎（真不掩偽。曲不藏直。臨崖看虎兕。特地一場愁。掀翻大海踢倒須彌。且道洞山在什麼處）。

[Case 44] A monk asked Dongshan, "When cold and heat arrive, how should one avoid them?" (This is not the season for it. Right over the head and in the face, where is it?)
Dongshan said, "Why not go to the place where there is no cold or heat?" (Everyone under heaven searches for it and cannot find it. Hiding the body and revealing the shadow. Xiao He sold out the fake silver city.)
The monk said, "What is the place where there is no cold or heat?" (He swindles a boatload of people to death. Turning along with him. Once hooked, he is hauled right up.)
Dongshan said, "When it is cold, let the cold kill the ācārya; when it is hot, let the heat kill the ācārya." (The true does not conceal the false; the crooked does not hide the straight. Standing by the cliff watching tigers and rhinos—a special cause for sorrow. Overturning the great sea and kicking down Mount Meru. Tell me, where is Dongshan?)
