【五八】舉。僧問趙州。至道無難唯嫌揀擇。是時人窠窟否（兩重公案。也是疑人處。踏著秤鎚硬似鐵。猶有這箇在。莫以己妨人）州云。曾有人問我。直得五年分疎不下（面赤不如語直。胡孫喫毛蟲。蚊子咬鐵牛）。

[58] Case: A monk asked Zhaozhou, "'The Supreme Way is not difficult; it only dislikes picking and choosing.' Is this the nest of people of the time?" (A double gong'an. This is also where people doubt. Treading on a steelyard weight, hard as iron. There is still this? Do not hinder others with yourself.) Zhaozhou said, "Once someone asked me, and it directly took five years without being resolved." (A red face is not as good as straight speech. A monkey eating caterpillars; a mosquito biting an iron ox.)
