【七一】舉。百丈復問五峯。併却咽喉唇吻。作麼生道（阿呵呵。箭過新羅國）峯云和尚也須併却（攙旗奪鼓。一句截流。萬機寢削）丈云。無人處斫額望汝（土曠人稀相逢者少此一則與七卷末公案同看）。

[Case 71] Baizhang also asked Wufeng: "Shutting tight the throat and lips, how will you speak?" (Aha! The arrow has passed beyond the kingdom of Silla.) / Wufeng said: "The venerable monk also must shut them tight." (Rushing the banners and seizing the drums. A single phrase cuts off the stream; myriad dynamic workings are silenced and erased.) / Baizhang said: "Where there is no one, I will shade my brow and look for you." (The land is broad and the people are few; those who meet are rare. This case should be read together with the gong'an at the end of Fascicle Seven.)
